Under £100 edit

Now the subject of budget clothing is a tricky one isn’t it. I’m well aware that not everyone has a high end budget or even a high street budget and I aim to be as inclusive as I possibly can when I do my edits. I have talked about this a lot and many women tell me that they just like to get ideas from my outfit suggestions and that they don’t mind that some of the items are at the higher price bracket.

But then, on the other hand, I want everyone to feel like they have options when they read my blog so I like to include pieces for all budgets.

However, that then comes at another price - the sustainability and ethical price. To be truly sustainable, none of us would buy anything at all and we’d keep fashion circular and just wear our wardrobes time and again or buy preloved/vintage. I like to do this as much as possible and one thing i’ve been working on myself is to try to only buy pieces that will last and that have longevity.

I’m not perfect in any shape or form. Not at all. I can get blindsided by something pretty and sparkly in Zara as much as the next person, but i’m trying to be more thoughtful and considered, invest in small sustainable businesses and streamline my wardrobe.

But, I digress, let’s get back to the subject. I’m trying to not include really cheap clothing in my edits so you won’t see £5 dresses from Shein here. But I’m also well aware that brands such as Zara, Mango and H&M which I have included, aren’t the most sustainable choice either. Welcome to the inner monologue of my mind - it’s a head f**k.

At the end of the day, I have to be true to myself and show you the options that I like and would buy. My edits are purely ideas that you can choose to take inspiration from, shop or ignore - you have the power!

For someone on minimum wage with a family to feed, I totally understand why the sustainability discussion is divisive and exclusive. It’s all very well to preach to the masses while driving your 4x4 with a high carbon footprint and living in a massive house. To be honest it comes across as a bit crass and judgemental.

That being said though, this planet is in crisis and we all, collectively, need to change. There’s no doubt about it and I know I have a responsibility like everyone else.

I have always loved vintage and second hand so first and foremost I would suggest we all try to shop more preloved. Every trend comes round again and again, so with a bit of searching we can find some real gems out there. However, this isn’t as easy for plus sizes and i’m well aware that this is a frustrating subject for many above a size 16 who simply can’t find many preloved items in their size.

In my blog today, I have included 8 outfits where everything is under £100. Some pieces are preloved, but most are high street. I’ve tried to include items that will last in your wardrobe and that you will be able to wear again and again in multiple different ways. And like I always say, you will probably have a lot of similar items already that you can dig out from your wardrobe. And that is the most sustainable way of dressing there is.

Sorry for my ramblings today - I seriously want to do the best I can for everyone and it’s so difficult. I get many messages from people who are disappointed that I include items from H&M and the like in my edits. But for every one of those messages I get double from people asking for more affordable options. I try to get the balance right as much as possible. I hope I do.
