The New Neutrals

A neutral wardrobe is a little bit marmite isn’t it. I have friends that find beige and creams the most boring colours and wouldn’t be seen dead in it. Others that love that minimalistic vibe that oozes sophistication and others that want to wear it but are fearful it washes them out.

Now the latter is a real problem, especially as we get older and our skin becomes sallower. We definitely need to then look at the neutral colours and work out what shades suit us. Is it more of a rich brown or a soft cream. Or do you need to swap out black in favour of navy and dark browns. But that’s a post for another day!

Today I have been researching the high streets new in sections to see what neutrals they are offering. The great thing about beiges, browns, greys, navy and black is they fit in to your wardrobe so easily and go with most things. So a navy or cream cashmere jumper is an investment, but it will last forever. That is why these classic pieces are worth spending a bit more money on. Building that capsule wardrobe full of pieces that stand the test of time, so that you can then add a few trends here and there to update your wardrobe for that season.

With that said, I have focused on key pieces that will last. Coats, blazers, jeans, simple dresses, knitwear, trainers, tops, chunky boots, trousers and accessories. I have chosen pieces that will be easy to mix and match and wear with multiple items in your wardrobe. Pieces that if looked after, will last and you’ll dig out again and again.

I’ve selected over one hundred pieces below and if you want to shop, all you need to do is click on the pic to go straight through to the online stores. *Some links are affiliate links.
