Swimwear for all bodies
I don’t know about you but my body has changed an incredible amount over the last few years. I was always carrying a bit of extra weight, but lockdown did me well and truly dirty and my body seems unrecognisable to me now.
Summer can be difficult for people big or small who have a tricky relationship with their body. The summer months mean more skin on show and for anyone who finds this a struggle, I’m sending love and support. It’s bloody hard.
Swimwear is a particularly sore subject for many and I know there are a lot of people who would rather not get on the beach or sit by a pool if it means getting their body out on show. I wish there was something I could do or say to help you if you do feel like this. I know it’s not as easy as saying, ‘you look great’ or ‘your body is worthy’ or any other quote out there. It’s a deep rooted issue that society has plagued us with and it’s a long journey to finally get there.
But, if you want a little bit of help with what swimwear looks particularly good on different body shapes, then this blog will hopefully help.
Whether you have big boobs, small boobs, are plus size, have big hips or broad shoulders, swimwear is like any other piece of clothing and different styles can help to minimise or maximise areas of your body that you want to disguise or show off.
Cut and fabric are very important when it comes to holding you in and there are a lot of tummy control swimsuits or two-pieces out there if you want a bit of support around the tummy area. For bigger hips or broader shoulders it’s all about proportion and balancing out those areas. So if you have larger hips, add detailing around the shoulders or if you have broad shoulders, add detailing around the hips or waist to balance them out. And for those with a smaller bust, you can add ruffles and frills and detailing or try bandeau and triangle tops.
Have a little look at my picks below.
I’ve linked to all styles.
And if you are going on holiday this year… lucky you! We have been searching for weeks and it seems everything is either booked up or has gone up about £5k. It looks like it will be Costa del Garden this year. :(
